About Paul Chargois

A Legacy of Achievement and Leadership

Let's go back to the beginning. While a student at Louisiana State University, I helped launch the school's first FM radio station in 1979, becoming the first program director and second station manager. From there, I became an announcer for WYNK in Baton Rouge, the powerhouse country station in South Louisiana, just as the Urban Cowboy craze stormed America.

I founded Chargois Communications in 1991, and I embraced the digital and Internet innovations of the early 1990s. I was involved in significant web initiatives for companies from San Jose, California, to Tampa, Florida.

Focused on the value-driven convergence of traditional media strategies and new media technology, I launched SoutheastTexas.com on February 14, 1997. SoutheastTexas.com was the first regional web portal in the United States to offer free online classified ads, job postings, and singles profiles. It launched seven months before Craigslist.org. Airing 600 :60 second radio commercials per month over five radio stations for 17 consecutive years, my voice and my name are still widely recognized throughout Southeast Texas.

In 2015, I sold SoutheastTexas.com to a major media company and retired in Houston. My enthusiasm for digital innovation was reignited in 2023. I bought into a significant SaaS company that delivers revolutionary marketing systems, and Texas Marketing Communications was born.
